The Chamberí neighborhood is known for its palatial buildings and luxurious atmosphere, but there is one place that stands out as an oasis of luxury in the heart of Madrid: the Santo Mauro hotel.

The real name of this hotel is Santo Mauro, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Madrid and it belongs to the Marriott giant. This luxurious French-style mansion was built between 1889 and 1902 as the residence of the Duke of Santo Mauro, and has been meticulously renovated to preserve its stately essence.

Currently, the hotel It has 49 unique rooms, and gastronomic spaces such as the La Biblioteca restaurant and the Jardín de Santo Mauro, which offer an unforgettable experience for guests and anyone who wants to dine or simply have a drink.

Both the atmosphere of the Library and the garden in summer are among the most pleasant in Madrid. However, I personally recommend visiting La Biblioteca in winter and booking a table in the garden during the summer season. This way, you can enjoy La Biblioteca's exquisite menu while relaxing in the garden.

The Library Restaurant

The Library, a unique gastronomic space within the Hotel Santo Mauro, is the lounge dedicated to the most elegant and refined experience under the direction of Chef Rafa Peña. Located in the Duke's original library, its name honours its history. The place has been carefully preserved and adapted to create a welcoming, intimate and characterful atmosphere.

The interior design, with its delicacy, and the cuisine focused on the excellence of the product, create a setting that evokes the grand receptions of the noble houses of the 19th century. In addition, this concept of gastronomic elegance is perfectly reinterpreted in the garden during the season of good weather, taking advantage of the natural light and one of the best gardens in Madrid, if not the best.

The menu, which is not very extensive, offers products of the highest quality. In our case, we opted for a starter of anchovies , Russian salad with crab and caviar and Wagyu cured meat .

For the main course and for meat lovers, the old cow loin is an excellent choice, its intense flavor and tender texture make this dish a true delight. On the other hand, Prawn rice , prepared risotto style, is a culinary marvel. The combination of the marine flavours of the prawns with the creaminess of the rice creates an unforgettable gastronomic experience.
